KHARKOV STATE ACADEMY OF PHYSICAL CULTURE

The Academy was founded in 1979. It is subordinated to the Ministry of Ukraine on family, youth and sports affairs. The Academy is of IV th (the highest) level of accreditation.

N.A. Oleynik, professor, the Associate Member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, Honoured Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine runs the Kharkiv State Academy of Physical Culture since 1995.

Higher degrees conferred on the graduates of the Academy – Bachelor, Master, Candidate of Sciences: academic titles – assistant professor, professor.

At present the Academy caters for about 2900 students, including 229 foreign citizens from 28 countries, 81 foreign students are studying at the Preparatory Department, 14 students are studying at the major faculties of the Academy, 16 foreign citizens are studying at the postgraduate courses.

Structure of the Academy:

The Academy includes 4 colleges, 5 faculties, 19 departments, a scientific and research centre, the Centre of Computer technologies and information support of physical education and sports. The Academy also provides postgraduate courses for its students.

The Teaching staff of the Academy:

7 doctors of sciences, 9 professors, 36 associate professors, 50 candidates of sciences, (PhD) 10 Honoured coaches of the USSR and Ukraine, 6 judges of international class.

Students of the academy are taught in Russian, the academic year starts in September.

Preparatory department

The course of training lasts 1 year.

The curriculum of the Preparatory department proposes the teaching foreign students of Russian language as well as a number of major disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, History, etc.

The Academy implements training process according following licinsed specialities:

Bachelor:

The course of training – 4 years.

Physical education

  • teacher of physical education and sports at educational establishments,
  • Physical Culture Manager.

Sport

  • teacher of physical education, coach of olympic sports,
  • information support of physical culture and sports.

Human health

  • Physical Rehabilitation. Specialists in rehabilitation having knowledge and skills of massage, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, phytotherapy, manual correction.

Specialist, Master:

The course of training – 1 year.

Physical rehabilitation

Olympic and professional sports

  • coach, researcher;
  • information support of physical culture and sports;
  • sports psychology.

Physical education

  • physical education and sports manager;
  • teacher of physical education and sports;
  • health-improving physical culture and fitness (sports dances).

Postgraduate courses:

The course of training – 3 years.

Specialities:

  • olympic and professional sports;
  • physical culture, physical education of different groups of people;
  • physical rehabilitati

Requirements of admittance of foreign citizens for training

Admittance of foreign citizens for training is implemented on the basis of international agreements of Ukraine, state programmes, contracts concluded by higher educational establishments with juridical persons and individuals.

Entrance to Ukraine is allowed from August, 15 to November, 15 with the aim of training in Ukraine.

The original of invitation for studying in higher educational establishment is the ground for receiving entrance visa to Ukraine.

List of Documents should be presented for foreign citizens who wish to study at higher educational establishments of Ukraine:

  1. Original of education certificate (General Certificate of Education) with the extract of marks on disciplines should be translated into Russian or Ukrainian. Original and translation of these documents should be officially attested by Consular section of the Embassy of Ukraine in the country where an applicant receive visa.

  2. Original of birth certificate should be translated into Russian or Ukrainian. Original and translation of birth certificate should be officially attested by Consular Section of the Embassy of Ukraine in the country where an applicant receive visa.

  3. Original of Medical Certificate given not later before two months entrance to Ukraine should be translated into Russian or Ukrainian. Original translation of the Medical Certificate should be attested by the Consular Section the Embassy of Ukraine in the country where an applicant receive visa.

  4. Original of document, testifying absence of HIV-infection should be translated into Russian or Ukrainian. Original and translation should be attested by the Consular Section the Embassy of Ukraine in the country where an applicant receive visa.

  5. Return ticket with the open date valid for one year for returning to motherland.

  6. 10 photographs 3x4 cm.
